Cooking a Sirloin Tip Steak is easy! All you need is your Mitchell Bros. Sirloin Tip Steak, a cast iron pan, and butter :)
*Sirloin Tip is a moderately tender steak
**Sirloin Tip Steaks should not be mechanically tenderized (don’t pound with a mallet or tenderizer)
1. Bring your Sirloin Tip to room temperature and pat it dry with paper towel (If the steak remains wet, it will steam and lose moisture/tenderness)
2. Bring your cast iron pan to medium heat and add one tablespoon of butter (vegetable oil will work – but we prefer butter!)
3. Just before your cast iron pan starts to smoke, gently place your Sirloin Tip in the butter and start to fry for 2 – 3 minutes depending on thickness
* The thinner the Sirloin Tip, the faster it will cook*
4. While the Sirloin Tip is cooking, cover the uncooked side with salt and pepper
5. Flip the Sirloin Tip over and cover the cooked side with salt and pepper
6. Lightly baste the Sirloin Tip with the juices from the pan – at this point, you are looking for a crust forming on the steak
7. Check the internal temperature of the steak with a Meat Thermometer. Pull the Sirloin Tip off the heat at 138°F
8. Lightly tent your Sirloin Tip with foil and leave to rest
*Make sure that your foil isn’t wrapped tight as this will make your steak steam*
9. To serve, slice your Sirloin Tip Steak against the grain and enjoy
